How cool is that, dunno what it could be based on with that boxer engine....and chain drive but hey ho. Working front and rear suspension, moving pistons.

    Dear Santa,

    thanks

Well, would you look at that. It's even got TKC80's on it.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

    Re: My next bike....

LEGO made quite a few motorbikes over the years. Set 393 from 1976 was probably the first LEGO Hobby Set ('Technic' wasn't yet coined) motorbike.

Set 8857 was made in 1980 and was pretty much the original Technic motorbike, although the sets were known at the time as Expert Builder.

Set 1924 was actually a model in its own right in 1983 but also made an appearance (with instructions for adding suspension) in 1984's 8889 Technic Ideas Book, for a car with motorbike trailer.

Everything changed in 1991 with the 8838 Shock Cycle, which used the brand new engine block bricks, wheels and suspension units.

In 1993 LEGO brought out the Street Chopper Trike.

But to my mind, the 8422 V-Twin Super Bike from 1995 was the best looking.

Around 2002 LEGO Technic parts went all smooth and strange, and they lost the plot a bit with the 8430 Motorbike.

But things picked up in 2005 with the very VFR-looking 8420 Street Bike, complete with V4 and single-sided swingarm:

which many people rebuilt with more bodywork over the tank and rear section. And then for 2008 it was the Dirt Bike that LEGO brought out!

Wow Sunnybrook, you certainly know you Lego!!

I had the Norton as a kid, and now have the VFR alike.

Read this review of the kit on the Lego site, makes me think it must be a BMW-
".......But I find the engine does not run very smoothly, and I don't know why. Technic sets usually have an engine that runs smooth...............
    It's coz it's a boxer

I think it is because of the side of the road they drive / ride.
If you drive on the right then the side stand will lean the bike into the camber of the road.
Over here we drive on the left. hence the side stand being on the left.
A lot of current bikes made from copies of British bikes, that is how the Japanese started.
