90 in a 40, almost a head on smack on crossing solid whites..... and the copper states he's not a competent rider....
Don't understand why he wasn't pulled early on???

I think it's because he needed sufficient evidence for a conviction and then it's about being able to safely stop the offender.

Fair point! The clock in top corner of the screen was at 07.04 at the beginning and 07.14 by the time he stopped him. Ten minutes of high speed chasing on what looked like wet roads seems a bit excessive when he could have easily nicked him for speeding and dangerous driving within the first minute or so!
Perhaps PC Plod fancied a bit of a race himself? I'm sure if he'd hit the blues & twos early on, the chase could have been avoided.
Very irresponsible riding by the biker but I do think that Plod could have handled it better.
I haven't read the TWO article referred to - what's his side of the story?

'tis the old problem of the police putting themselves in a situation where they can be accused of "inciting" dangerous behaviour / driving. In an iunmarked vehicle, the risk is that if you start "tickling" a bike, he's gonna nail it. Now go prove that the police do this on purpose in order to get more / better results. Has it been in court yet?

The strange thing is that the Policeman does exactly the same as the front MC. He is speeding, undertaking crossing solid lines with oncoming traffic, so even if its illegal, all the first bikes moves must be safe.

    Re: Interesting police chase

Have a look at 2mins40 - the police commentary says "nearly had a head on with a motorcycle coming the opposite way". In fact, the biker being followed was back on his side of the road by the time the bike came the other way. It was actually the copper who was still on the wrong side of the road over a solid white with nowhere to go as he was blindly overtaking a van that was closest to having a head on. It was only the quick thinking biker coming the other way that avoided a double fatal - not really that clever for a police pursuit rider.
