    End of an era !!

Just heard that Woolworths is going into receivership!! It's really sad. What's going to happen to all the people who work there? The end of an era indeed.

I thought something was up when I went into my local store.
I found something I wanted and took it to the counter, only to be told it was out of stock.
I queried why so many were on the shelf and was told if they removed everything they were sold out of there would be nothing on the shelves.
They used to be the best shop for everything from music to videos.

Woolies was the shop I was always taken too as a kid for Christmas, it was classed as a big shop I guess then. Nowadays here in Cardiff, Woolies is in out lying high streets and I guess was on the cards, sad I know, but if its losing money what choice will they have. Crap time of year for all employees to lose their job

Hmmm what is this country gonna be in future.... what GALLS ME is i deal with Italy a lot... buy from 4 main suppliers there... they can make a reasnably good product (unless yr talkin the company that did the chroming om my Guzzi collection ) but to deal with & try to get after sales service they are all a friggin nightmare !!

British companies (well distributors of course not manufacturers) i deal with are a joy to work with in comparison - personally i wish this "buy it cheap" philosophy had never come about because we are paying for it in other ways.

OK - ive put my orange box away now

Ardeshir (unpronouncable surname) who owns Targetfollow (big property company that invests his own personal money -owns Centre Point in London, for example) has been trying to buy Woolies for a few months.

He'll get a bargain now. I know several people who work for him and he's apparently a nice guy.

It may not be all bad news.
