Send Virgin TV signals to another TV

Is there something I can buy to send my Virgin TV signal to a TV n another room? My son wants to watch cricket and sometimes we have to kick him out of the room. Could I send the signal to another TV.

Virgin wants £10 a month for an extra box. Bah! Humbug!

It's not like we'd be watching a different channel on the original TV, so I don't want to pay for an extra box.

I'd have thought a normal video sender unit would do the trick, I used to use one successfully with my ntl box a few years ago (cost me £20 from Aldi Tevion branded I think) just connects through the scart on your box

But be warned if you a wireless door bell, it makes the bell ring every time you change channel

My brother got one of these and thought that the local kids were playing tricks on him ringing the door bell and running away but after a while he copped that it rang every time he used the remote

Just be careful that not all VM (virginmedia) boxes uses the same IRDA protocol so although the video sender part will work the IR extender might not.

    Eh?

Anyone actually used a system with the V+ box?

Re: Send Virgin TV signals to another TV

I recently bought one of these

    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-5494.aspx

And it's reasonable performance for the money. Easy to set up too. But I haven't used it for a V+ box or indeed any irda stuff.

This one http://www.satcure.com/accs/page3.htm#digieye definitely works with irda, and is often recommended for use with cable-tv boxes.

Re: Send Virgin TV signals to another TV

I didn't bother with the remote when I used a video sender with my old NTL box, I just left it on the channel I wanted, but it worked fairly well.

Like most wireless devices range depends on what it has to go through, fish tanks, radiators, reinforced concrete walls will all make life harder...

Re: Send Virgin TV signals to another TV

My m8 used to have one of the wireless senders from his pc to his TV and they can go fuzzy if you (or next door) switches a microwave on, something to do with 2.4ghz or some rubbish

If it's got an RF out at the back you could just run a cable (normal tv wire) from that to his tv, if it's not too much of a pain, but wireless is the easier option.
