Meesh, I'm really sorry to hear about this.

I pray that whatever lowlife nicked it, can't get it running, because they might just abandon it where it can be found.

It would be well worth taking an evening drive around the less salubrious parts of the area, armed with a mobile phone and your crime reference number. If you spot it, call the Police immediately and shadow the bike until they turn up. Probably best not to do this alone, take your son atleast, but I'm sure anyone seeing you probably wouldn't think that you were the owner, so you could keep tabs on it til the rozzers arrive.

Hopefully, you'll have it back in time for the maintenance day (28th Nov), and if you do, I'll be happy to collect it and take it over so we can all spend some time getting Ben back up to scratch.


Meesh, if you have any pics of your RD03, particularly if it had any distinguishing features like decals or custom parts/mods, please post them up, as this will enable forum members to compare any parts that crop up on eBay with your bike. We might be able to nail 'em that way!

Thanks Bob for your suggestion.... but I'm not able to do much driving in the dark 'cos of the balance problems I have and I wouldn't have a clue where to start anyway! I am ringing around dealers tho' to alert them and ask them to let me know... otherwise just trying to get word out to as many people/places as possible.

Let's wait and see what happens regarding the mainenance day!! but thanks anyway.

Good news! Good news! GOOD NEWS!! BEN IS HOME!

Reported him stolen on Saturday..... nobody knew what had happened to him... not the police, not the council..... but (after a short period of bawling like a baby and running around like a headless chicken!!) Meesh (super sleuth!) was hot on the case! Having delved into the murky depths of the dark alleys; scoured the countryside with my magnifying glass and called half the nation in a bid to get clues.... I emerged triumphant!!

I caught the so-and-so's that had thieved my bike...... It was the Bl***y Highway Agencies!!!! Took it 'cos it had broken down in an area where they were obliged to keep it clear, but never thought to let anyone know!!!!

Anyway, several phone calls and a lot of money later Ben was freed from his imprisonment. But still broken down!!

Fortunately one of our XRV family was on hand to help! Armed with a can of fuel and jump leads and a bit of help from another biking enthusiast in 4 wheels, Bigrog managed to get Ben going again. My thanks indeed to Rog - a godsend, in the right place just at the right time - thanks

Ben is back at home safe, but the detective work is not over, for now I need to investigate all the little things on him that are not right and contributed to his breaking down - e.g check the oil etc

Seems my panic was for nothing.... but if the recovery companies thought to link in with a national system, the police would have been able to tell me straight away. As it is I knew before them..... and thank goodness I did that too... the storages charges would have been a small mortgage if I'd left it!!!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.... it was these that lead me onto the final discovery and thanks for your kind wishes.

BTW BobA... I have just realised that the Maintenance day clashes with the Christmas meet in Derbyshire, so have a dilemma here!

well done.........great news sleep well tonight then. why didnt they just inform police they had picked up bike and so police could have contacted you in no time at all. thought that was what reg plates were for ??? makes you think. anyway, put it behind you and concentrate on what caused breakdown in first place. sleep well !! ade
