If it gets difficult, have a fag and try again !![]()
I gave up 6 years ago.
I wanted to give up but never could, then I got a bad bout of flu and every time I lit a cigarette I threw up so I gave it up until I was better.
Then I decided as I had not smoked for two weeks I would wait another week and then just do not think about it any more.
Now the smell of smokers in a confined space make me ill.
well tom how was day one, i would love to join you but at the moment I'm still a slave to it..
i've packed in several times in the past one time i managed five months
one of the dangers i found was after you'd cracked the initial hard part you start to forget just how difficult it actually was and you start thinking(particularly when drinking alcohol) that was quite easy, i might just have a fag now knowing i can just pack them in again
and away you go smoking again
unfortunately for bikers it's just the ideal thing to stop and do when you make brief stops during a ride out..... DOH!!!!

One day, 14 hours, 15 minute and 33 seconds down.
So far, I've killed the gerbils, eaten the hampster, thrown my neighbour off the roof, set fire to the car that was blocking my gateway last night when I got in from work, broke my directors nose, and chewed my right hand off.
So, all in all, it's going quite well really.
Tom hope it's going well. If it isn't, remember:
Don't quit trying to quit.
Until November last year I was on 40+ a day and went overnight to being a non-smoker.
My 2 main reasons for quitting were:
1. I couldn’t be ar5ed to stand outside all the time to have a fag.
2. It was becoming embarrassing when I had a fag in my hand and people asked me to stop them smoking using hypnosis & I needed to start practicing what I preached.
I had been smoking for 8 years after a 6-year break as a non-smoker.
On the evening of Friday 8th November 2008 I was working as a Magician for a local German car dealer. After the show I stayed for a Bier or 10, and staggered home about 3 in the morning, worse for wear. That’s when the “something” in my head went “click” and I knew the time was right. I had planned to stop anyway, but not set a date & I had already bought some patches to help me.
On Saturday I woke up and immediately did some self Hypnosis techniques to achieve my goal. I then put a patch on as a form of back-up. A week later I stopped the patches and declared myself a non-smoker & I have been since. My wife smokes but that doesn’t bother me.
If I am honest because the “something” clicked in my head and my reasons for quitting were genuine it was actually quite easy.
Tom & anyone else trying to quit, All the best and it will work.
Don't quit trying to quit.
