    The cost of stupidity is...

    Exactly £196.25...

That's what it costs to get a locksmith to drill out the lock to your new flat, when you've gone and locked yourself out on Easter Monday...

    DOH!

    I've thought about it...

If the guys who came to install my Sky dish had been there earlier, I could have used their ladder to get up to my kitchen window... Unfortunately, my Girlfriend had to catch a plane back to the Netherlands, and her papers were in the house... So I had no choice...

Not a mistake I'll make again, I hope...

best part of £200 for some muppet with a drill?... sack that sh!t i'd have put my shoulder through the door. Girlfriend gets papers and makes the flight and you get the hammer and nails, jobs done.

If it were my own place, yes...

Unfortunately, I'm renting, so breaking the door, and possibly the door frame, on my first day in the house, didn't strike me as the best plan...

On a positive note, I've got a whopping big garage in the new place (18 feet long) so plenty of space for your bike when you come over on TLD

Well in that case it's a good job you called the locksmith and did not get booted out for damaging the door

Don't they charge a fortune for a bogus call out though?

If I were them I'd just send one man round, and close the gas at the meter in the hallway

Re: The cost of stupidity is...

I had to get a locksmith round once when the backdoor would not open. Turned out to have been my daughter gluing it up

Nearly all my neighbours have my house keys cos I lock myself out so often.

Is there not a locksmith within the forum

or was it just a dogdy geezer with a spoon and pannier locks
Never locked myself out of the house but keys left inside the car with locked doors a few times
