I think the bit about using a radio while cycling is a bit risky, It is similar to using a mobile phone.
It does sound crazy but like at my work if he had fallen over or got hurt in some way the insurance would have said sorry not insured as you are not trained on it.
Definately Health & Safety going over the top but he was right.

same thing can happen with all sorts, 2 cases with trucks, my mate Tony and i had been troting around europe together in my scania for months, Tony worked part time for Tescos,, when they changed the fleet of trucks from Leyland to Scania he was told he could not drive the scania until he had been through the Scnia drivng course, another owner driver had the same thing with Mercedes trucks on safeway or one of the big supermarket chains he actually part owned the same model with semi auto box, was told he could not drive them until he had done the course he sat in the yard loooking a unsued trucks for a week waiting for others to comeback that he could drive, until he did the course on which he ws tecjhing ht einstructor things about the truck

As I drive for Arriva I have had to train on the Metro, Olympian, Dart, DLA, DW, VLA, type of bus, Everytime they change or update we have to retrain on the new setup before we can take them on the road.

So if someone were being beaten up, might a copper refuse to intervene if he hasn't been on the appropriate training course? Or is that considered basic training?

If you learned to ride on an ordinary bike, would you have to retrain to use a unicycle or a tandem?
