Lord Vader listen to the inner voices .... buy a HONDA.....
I had a final drive collapse on an 1150, I was riding back from Amsterdam with a guy on a 1150GSA when the final drive died and I know of others.
Remember for every bad story you here there are loads more happy 1200 owners about we just don't publicise it.
Pete there's a new guy in Cannons saying how he's going to turn things around lets hope he does.
I was with Chad when he took the call from Vader and that was what I said at the time - something is out of line somewhere, causing this , there are stresses being induced somewhere in the train. 4 bearings in what ? 2 years - less ? thats not right !! I think a nastygram to BMW to do a "root cause analysis" on this is needed.
Sorry to hear this Pete, it's a bummer, and no doubt very frustrating.
We joke with each other about BMW/KTM reliability , but it's not nice when something that is supposed to be your haven from the rest of lifes issues brings you even more hassles.
Hang in there mate - you'll get a KTM someday![]()
2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!![]()
2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.
I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!
Jeez pete, I take the rise out of the JCBs but that is getting beyond funny.
mind you the GS part does mean Get Shoving
Pete I think it might be the BBQ unbalancing the weight...........it's gonna have to go![]()
Pete honey don't laugh at this question (I know what your going to say anyway) but Jay told me I've got to ask
He wants to know what has gone on the final drive, what actually fails
(I told him you'll laugh and say how the Feck should you know but he told me I had to ask)
DELILAH
2010 F800 GS
Bleh, again? That sucks.
Just out of curiosity, how much has that bike run anyway, in total?
(And be glad it's eating final drives, not valves like some other peoples GSAs.)
(Me? I've just split a header pipe on the airhead, so I'm walking as well.)
