    I echo the above sympathies, Pete. My old BMW (R1150RS) was great to ride, but I couldn't stand the constant breakdowns. It was such a shame to part with it, but in the end it had to go.

    It would be interesting to get unbiased statistics on reliability because people keep saying, "it's only a few bad ones and we never hear about all the happy owners"... but there seem to be an awful lot of unhappy BMW owners (and ex-owners). Not so many unhappy Honda owners.

    Having said that, the R1200GS scores well in the RiDE survey, which is pretty comprehensive, so maybe you should try to sell it and replace with a GS of a similar price.

    I'm on my 3rd 1200 and until the FPC failed on the last one they've been faultless.

    The faulty ones may only be a small percentage of the total on the road, lets be fair evry man and his dog seems to have one now.
