Why does Royal Mail not open in the afternoon?

Been out all morning, got back at 12.45 but wanted to check my radiator fan was working, having had a tinker, so left the bike running to get it up to temperature. Even revving it a bit, that took ten minutes before the fan came on (At least it works)

Got indoors to find two RM delivery cards, leaving me four minutes to get the sorting office, because it closes at 1pm.

It's pathetic customer service.

Royal mail are hopeless, on shift work i can only pick up parcels every other week. But as long as it suits them then it's ok, no need to worry about it's customers no wonder they are going bankerupt and needs privatising. They only keep parcels at post offices for 7 days then they send them pack to where they came from

I have got a back protector out there somewhere.
When I got the fairing it got sent back to sender because I did not collect it.
I got no notification that they had even been to deliver so I did not have a clue here it was.

yep it's crap customer service. However ours opens every day, 9 till 5 and half day Saturday

I have a local post office that is open all hours but the sorting office isn't. I can understand that the posties do start early but why they cannot have a second shift just for the sorting office doing 1 until 8 or 9pm is beyond me.

I used to get a post delivery at 7am and then second post at 11. Now I get one post sometime between midday and 4pm. When you complain you get told that this is much more efficient

Same here.
It is more cost effective having 1 delivery per day it saves the post office money not having to buy more shoes for when they get worn out with all the walking.

I was talking about the sorting office. The hours seem good but if you work they're not really that clever.

Got a "missed you" card recently from a shipping company. I needed to phone to arrange pickup (at their terminal at HEATHROW!!!) or I could have it redelivered, I can pick the day, but all they can say is that they'll be there between 8am and 7pm...

There was an option in the phone menu to change the delivery address (so I could have it delivered to work), but when I tried that it said: "to change your delivery address please contact the sender" and they disconnected...

I would have loved to, but there was nothing on the card to tell me who was actually sending the parcel.

Fortunately the sending company called me to check if everything was in order, and they arranged redelivery at work for me... GRRR!

Ours too - one advantage of a rural setting.

Our postie often leaves notes saying " you were not in , so I took it to your mother's" or "I'll take it to your wife at work" ........it's great !!!

What is more worrying is notes that say " the spare parts your waiting on are ............." how the hell does he know what's in the parcel ????

I think they might be having sneaky peeks ?????
