I was warned by a Pan rider that if you get a Deauville you will wish you got a pan.
But when confronted with the Transalp he could not use the same statement for any other bike.

The NTV was a brilliant wee bike, we took a '93, shaft drive, single sided swingarm version on a 1200mile round trip to France stuffed with far too much luggage and it never missed a beat, sold it for buttons! Always thought the Dullsville a bit boring... but I'm sure is a very capable machine

You thought you needed a captain sensible bike for doing your RoSPA stuff and nipping around when firing up the KTM was overkill.

    Would you .........

    Consider a 2000 Deauville 650 ??
Pal of mine hired one one of these for a trip we did to Snowdonia whilst his own bike was in dock.......coped with two up & camping gear no problem and ran like a swiss watch...BUT....it did have that certain Mr Bean quality as well so in answer to your question it would make a perfect captain sensible bike

I was hiring one of these before I finally bought my first @.

Have to say it did 100 mph when you need it to and sat comfortably at similar speeds to the @. But it was bloody short and made my legs sore after about 50 miles.

That should not be a problem for you Wee Jack.

    Which CB500?
I had a CB500T as my second ever bike and loved it.
I went to wales and back on it and got 71 MPG and I thrashed it down the M4.

Jack you can be sensible on any bike
Its not the bike that makes a hooligan its the helmet, I suffered for ages with Tight Helmet Syndrome, but with my new bigger lid I can fit the brain in as well.

Couple of chaps came and looked at my TA back last year on the Beacons and they were both on the Deauville and had nothing but praise for it. Guess it depends what you want to do on it. One of them had 70k + miles on it and he had said it was his most reliable bike ever. Looks a comfortable steed although not the most fashionable
