The symptoms, so far, are just like normal flu but probably actually don't last as long. But that is in fit and healthy people on good diets with clean water etc.

The concern is say a whole watch in a fire station all have to go off work at once, even if it is only for three or four days. Or a whole bus depot or group of tube drivers or all the staff on one ward of a hospital. Then it becomes a logistical nightmare tying to keep public services running.
Our firm is monitoring the situation, they are aware of the number of people who would like a job so will reprimand anyone who contracts the virus.

We'd better leave some clues as to how they'd notice

    Re: swine flu

Just had the doc on the phone confirming that Molly's test results show she has had swine flu.

Bizarrely, this coincides with her being completely better and out bouncing on the trampoline. Back to school Monday confirmed the doc.

So the results take as long to come back as the flu lasts.

Apparently it is also only contagious ahead of symptoms showing (like chicken pox). As I was away from Thursday on The Longest Day, I was never in the danger zone, but none of the rest of the family caught it either.

Thanks for your good wishes. My experience suggests that for families at least it is not a big deal (be a nightmare for a boss who had his whole office off for three days all at the same time).
