    Spam emails

Just a word of warning.. this isn't a chain fake virus warning but I've had about 10 of these to various of my email addies in the last couple of days whilst I'm reconfiguring my spam-assasin server so all spam is getting through and they're one of the most realistic looking microsoft emails I've seen..

Update for Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express (KB910721)
    Brief Description
Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express. This update is critical and provides you with the latest version of the Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express and offers the highest levels of stability and security.
    Instructions
    • To install Update for Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express (KB910721) please visit Microsoft Update Center:
    http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftofficeupdate/isapdl/default.aspx?ln=en-us&id=50407877044274746479639516170198233629555673 41066640599041640779411
    Quick Details
    • File Name: officexp-KB910721-FullFile-ENU.exe
    • Version: 1.4
    • Date Published: Tue, 23 Jun 2009 11:07:44 -0300
    • Language: English
    • File Size: 81 KB
    System Requirements
    • Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000; Windows 98; Windows ME; Windows NT; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP; Windows Vista
    • This update applies to the following product: Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express
The link http://update.microsoft.com.|ilfl1l1|.com/microsoftofficeupdate/isapdl/default.aspx?ln=en-us&id=50407877044274746479639516170198233629555673 41066640599041640779411 (changed it slightly and made it non clickable so that people can't follow) when clicked doesn't go to microsoft but somewhere else and you're likely to end up with a botnet/trojan on your system and even if that's caught by your AV the installer which isn't caught will have opened up your firewall, restricted access via group polocies and probably locked down the admin account..

Just thought I'd let you guys now

    Re: Spam emails

MAC's aren't totally immune There's more and more trojans/virii/botnets coming out all the time for OSX and even *NIX just that windows gets targetted more as there's more users out there

The only thing that really lets it down is that they've made one stupid mistake... and that is that OFFICE updates wouldn't be valid for Outlook express and only Outlook

I know, that is what I mean it has less attacks .
Therefore it is a little bit less likely to be clobbered.
I use the mail program on mac to check emails before they go through my PC.

And which platform does that run on then?

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?
