How to avoid a ban, No 243.

OK, so a thousand miles of bimbling and I felt like a blast on my quick bike. Off I went to Stevenage, across to Milton Keynes, back down the A5 then the M1 towards the Ace, forgetting that Plod tends to sit in the services at J3 because of the lovely view of the road they have there.

Clocked at 107 they then chased me and followed (they later told me) at a decent distance at speeds between 110 and 125. I saw them and pulled over.

ACPO guidelines are that over 100 is a ban, but I got a producer, 3pts (my only ones!) and £60. Why? Because Plod was so pleased with my lane discipline, using the inside lane when not over-taking and clear, timely signalling!

We had a nice chat (in which my bike was described as 'a classic') and one of the hofficers put the bike on the centre-stand and gave a couple of safety-related maintenance points. The chap with the ticket was really apologetic, but a job's a job...

    Now THAT's a result!

And the Masonic handshake, plus buying fifty Police Ball tickets, had no part to play?

A damn fine result for a proper gentleman. Fair play I say. I was behind you on one roundabout at the weekend .... knee, pegs, exhaust and barends grinding on the tarmac is NOT my defination of a bimble. But I do remember being more than well impressed with your riding, and wishing I could ride like that . I'm glad Plod were too
