Thanks to my employer, Gleaner Oils!

Well, long story really but involves a hat!

I've been bidding on a new baseball cap for my trip to Europe this month and was hoping it would appear from Ebay in time.
While in the office this morning the managing director came in to the engineering dept looking for me! Wondering what I'd done wrong this time, he approached me and said he was informed I was a biker! I admitted to this, hard to deny wearing a Honda baseball cap! He explains we have a sister company who are also Shell distributors called Manx oils and said "hope you find a use for this" and hands me an Isle of Man TT 2009 baseball cap!!!!!!!!
Well, that's solved the hat issue for this summer! So I must say thank you very much to Gleaner Oil & Gas for my prize possession!

Africa Jim ,

What is the tie - up between Shell and Gleaner ? I was wondering this the other day when I passed the old Shell Station in Oban and saw it was now Gleaner.

Do Gleaner stations sell fuel sourced from Shell ?

Just curious.

Re: Thanks to my employer, Gleaner Oils!

Gleaner oils started up as a distributer of Shell products, mainly kerosene and gas oil (deisel). Gleaner oils then decided to get involved in the forecourt market and bought a couple of stations. They still only own a couple of stations. As Shell decided to pull out of the small filling station market Gleaners have taken over the franchise. Shell stations all over Scotland are being re-badged as Gleaners as Shell give them up.
A sideline to the fuel distribution, Gleaner oils offer service and maintenance to oil and gas boilers, here's where I come in! I am one of their boiler engineers.

I'm puzzled. When did the Isle of Man TT become a baseball competition?

Ha feckin ha! Trust you to pour on my parade! DW!

I wear a baseball cap at work most days, keeps the sun out of my eyes, and the soot out of my hair! Well, at least off my head! I always wear one when I stop the bike while on holiday and cherish them as memories of my trip. I'm delighted with my treasured new TT hat!
