Apparently it is incredibly dirty, as it has just been left chained up for 2 years. But in a very dry and open underground car park in London, accumulating dust every time a car comes past.

Surreal day really, got up this morning with 1 bike, going to bed with 2 bikes and no outflow of funds !!!!!

I remember that it rode really well, and was a real minter. Lets hope with a major application of Elbow grease i can get it back to mint, should be able to, with Honda quality.

I have a VFR750 and a Transalp and to be honest I hardly ride the VFR anymore,I have only done 4000 miles on it in the last three years.I will probably regret it but the time has come to sell it because it just isn't getting used.Brilliant bikes though and one for free how good is that

    Campagman & Trophydave

Is it not testament to how good adventure bikes are that you both have VFR750,s but both prefer the Transalps?

I am the same, i feel once you have had an adventure bike there is no going back.

I will keep this VFR800, i have always had something for the RC30 and the RC45 and this is as close as i will ever get. V4,Gear Driven Cams,Singlesided swingarm etc

If it's been standing still for two years, I would change engine oil as the very first thing to do, before any starting attempts.

I do not really think anything started to corrode on the inside of the engine*, or anything like that, but just as a precauton.

well from the bikes perspective, it is fortunate that it's now in your hands it sounds like the bike has been unridden and ignored for a lengthy time and thats no good is it?

far better that you clean it all back to its former glory or as close as you can manage and get your ar$e on it and use it for what it was built to do or sell it to someone who will....

the advice you gave him was obviously worth more to him than the bike so it seems everyone was a winner here

It's called "Paying it Forward" and you have received good karma for passing some on to a friend in need, in the past. Well done mate!

I can highly recommend the merits of either "Muck Off" or "Motul Bike Wash".

Smother the bike with it everywhere, leave it for a while, then reapply some more and work in with a cloth or soft brush, then hose off. Easy peesy lemon squeezy!

I'd also go for that oil change as well, preferably before start up, and I'd also empty, flush, and refill with pre-mixed coolant. If you can put a litre of fuel in the tank, slosh it around and tip it out, then refill with fresh for your first start I'd do that as well, just so any gunge doesn't make it as far as the injectors.

Nice bike, and nice mate you got there!

    Well done

    Bob
