My first "off" for 29 years today

Feeling sorry for myself today. During May and june I rode round western europe. I rode through 4 mountain ranges, a desert and 4 countries without a hitch or a scare. However today, 100 yards from my friends house, I managed to clip a grass verge which "grabbed" the bike (transalp 700v) and threw me down the road. The bike is a mess, My Draggin jeans worked well (now ruined) my gloves worked well (now ruined) my bought yesterday Predator jacket worked well (now ruined). My Scaphoid bone (now ruined) my left leg is a lovely shade of blue/purple (not ruined, but temporarily ruined!!). 4 hours in Dumfries Infirmary (weekend ruined).
Now curled up on setee with pain killers, red wine, ruined pride and not going to look at insurance or anything until tommorrow.
    Sorry to vent on everyone
    Rob

It's good to vent, makes things feel better although you may need to rant a lot more

Glad to hear you are not seriously injured, all them clothing items can be replaced, pricey i know but nevertheless they can be, and you can't.

We all have our little spills that embarass us or dent our pride, hell i got the gold-cup in u-turn fall on a steep hill

Absolute bummer but you're OK and that is why you bought all that gear. Imagine if you'd not had it all on?

The gear you can buy again, but skin and bone is harder to replace.

I came off with the good lady wife on the back too. Thought I'd never get her on the back again but the fact that we were so well protected made her realise I am not Evil Knevil, out to leap double-decker buses.

A few days or soreness and sympathy (you can have tea and sympathy but you'll still feel the soreness) then a few days of vigorous but painful exercise will see you much more mobile again.

Ice if it swells, ibuprofen- regularly, too, but keep it moving in between rests.

Here speaks the voice of experience: it would be quicker to list what I haven't broken..

Look on the bright side mate, Your injuries though painful will heal in a relatively short time, the bike will repair (pain in the ass I know but it will repair) It could have been so much worse.
The fact that this is the first off you've had in 29 years is either testament to your riding skills or you've been damn lucky

    Glad you are ok

Here speaks the man who fell off when stopped in a field, engine off, side stand down, and still had to go to hospitals for as long as you did.

OK that's not fair - But as Sharrie says, I am starting to sound like her.

It only hurts because you no longer flex as you did so there is nothing to absorb the knock.
The bike can be repaired but unlike the Bionic woman and 6 million dollar man you can not be.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Chris as you very well know, the engine was running, side stand up and the bike was actually moving ........just but I did spend 4hrs in hospital,
This too is either testament to my riding skills or I'm damn unlucky
"Ok that's not fair".......I'm not convinced you meant this.........PAL
