    Exclamation advice needed......................

    hi i need some advice.....

i want a big, cheap, reliable touring bike.

i dont want a africa twin or transalp as there motorway speed is just a bit lacking for me (sorry guys, they are still my favorite bikes though )

iv already owned a couple of transalps and just want a bit more power, iv been looking at bmw 1100s and also diversion 900s, im sure there must be other good bikes out there, so any advice would be great thanks
    everything is OK

    Good point about motorway cruising.

I had this dilemma a couple of months ago.

A planned tour of Ireland, two-up with luggage.

    Bought a Triumph Trophy 900.

Very stable on motorways etc, but still nice round the twistys.

Sweet triple motor and came with OE luggage, all three boxes and only two keys

Looks a bit of a Volvo estate, but they're comfy too.

Did a total of 1500 miles around Eire, longest day 320 miles, no aches or pains or whingeing from rear.

    TDM 850 / 900 ?

Just been to France, us on Transalp, mates on a TDM900. Much better mile muncher n motorway machine than the Transalp, better fuel economy too ..................... and pillion comfort is good!

    Plus its still a twin.

Stick with a Honda V-Twin - get a Varadero. Grunt a-plenty from the ex- Firestorm engine.

Ace on motorways and the twisties when you get where your going .

Did Spain via France earlier this year on one, fully loaded up (3 boxes plus bit & bobs ) - the perfect bike for the job.

Agree with Steve T here, I've been over to Europe twice on a mighty Varadero and reckon you'd struggle to find a better tourer.
A lot of bike for little money.

i do like the vara, although sadly not cheap enough for me, looking around the 1000-1500 area, this may be a silly question but what speed is the vara compfy at on the motorway?
i want a easy 70-80 for most of europe and at least a steady hundred on the german autobahns
thanks for all the ideas guys, keep 'em coming......

From San Sabastion to Valencia with tank bag, wife (sleeping), top box and side boxes she was comfortable a 115mph nearly all the way and that was effortless 99 carbed model

Were off to Belgium and France for a little jaunt at the end the end of the month it needs a good little run

XTZ750's are a cheaper option than a TA/AT and can always be upgraded with a TDM850 or even a TRX850 engine.
