    Forgive my skepticism...

But as Jarl suggested, it seems to be Bridgestone Trailwings, Continental Conti-Trail Attacks etc, which are basically sports-tourer carcasses and compounds with slightly wider tread grooves.

If they are going to call it "adventure" tyres, they should do dirt, sand and gravel tests, on different bikes, loaded with stuff... Not just road miles. Readers opinions could simply be commuting on the M40, and perhaps a trip to Spain.

    Not very adventury, IMHO....
Dual-sport touring tyres would be a better description...

    Re: Adventure tyres

I would say that the majority of people who ride so called Adventure bikes use them mainly on the road? so this comparison in the MCN ( by the readers and owners ) might help them choose a tyre , which seems to be a popular subject on this forum , hence me posting it , anyway the tyres listed are Battlewings , Trailwings , Tourances, Anakees, Continental Attacks , Distanzias , Continental Twinduros ,Pirelli Scorpions , Avon Gripsters and Continental Contiescapes.
So I think or thought that this was useful info to post , if you or anybody else doesn`t think so then dont buy the paper .

You should not take my comments personally, they were not intended that way. It was a personal reflection on MCN rather than of you or your post....

I am quite sure that plenty of people might well like to know what tyres are available and therefore might well go and buy this copy....

What I find ironic about the survey is that these are being called Adventure tyres when, as you say, most will never see adventure. None of those tyres apart from the TKCs (twinduros) would be particular versatile adventure tyres...

A few year ago our chosen bikes were called Dual Sport , now they are "adventure bikes". Personally, I think Dual Sport is a lot more accurate....

Just some marketeers selling the dream I guess....

I think the Adventure Bike tag is correct.

They are after all a bike you can have an Adventure on.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

They are survival bikes, they help me survive the deepening potholes all over the country. Just hope my bum survives as long as the rest of me
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

In that case, I propose all bikes are adventure bikes (although I'd have to think about HDs...)
