Hi all, just to ad my shillings worth ,it was only two years ago when I was refused admission to an out of the way cafe as the comment "we do not serve your sort in here!!"had me pretty gob smacked,
even the twin set and pearl brigade that were in residence could not believe what they had just heard.
Still it takes all sorts.

In 1989 myself and my then wife were returning back to Stranraer "to get the ferry to Belfast"from the British Grand Prix "Motorcycles" at Donnington. As it was getting dark i put my lights on and the Headlightbulb blew about 20 miles from Dumfries and then the heavens opened up .We decided to stop for the night in a B&B , When we saw the Vacancy,s sign we stopped and went to the front door ,By this stage the rain was bouncing off the ground ,Knocked the door and the owner answered and then told us sorry no vacancys while turning the sign off.So we rode through to the other side of Dumfries and tried another B&B and got a bed for the night. So i don,t know if we were turned away because we were from Northern Ireland or because we were on a motorcycle .When we got home i sent away a letter to the Scottish Tourist Board about the actions of the B&B owners and the S T B wrote back to me a few weeks later saying they had been in touch with the owners and had a few choice words with them,Apart from that i have never been refused admission or service since.Francis
Sometimes when i think the world,s all bad , Then i see some people on Motorcycles it makes me take another look. Steve Mcqueen.
I may be old fashioned, so what, I don't really like being called a biker I'm happy to be a Motorcyclist, how does that suit?
Toodle-pip.
Always been a biker and rather liked the tag. I used to be one of the "Bridgnorth bikers".
Motorcyclists to me are the beardy BMW brigade riding airhead R80's from the 70's and 80's.
I had a run in with the Wolverhampton hells angels chapters once. Nasty lot who were neither bikers or motorcyclists, just criminal thugs and bullies and give us all a bad name.
2001 Transalp XLV650. Faithful old friend still chugging away nearly 100,00miles
2007 Varadero XLV1000. Now you're torquing but sadly gone to another forum member. One of the best bikes - period.

I don't really care what others think, it's there problem not mine (although it might peev me off if i was in the rain and refused a bed because of it) so it generally doesnt bother me.
Ive lived with stereotyping all my life, from being labeled council house scum in a single parent family to thug with a bald head so he must be a mugger or hooligan of some sort. It's a bit mad really as i would help anyone if i could (apart from palerider ofcourse, id just leave that fekker behind) and most of you who have met me will hopefully agree that im generally a peaceful kind of guy, although most people just see the bald head and think thug.
Whats more funny is that we are all on this site for the love of motorcycling, bankers, lawyers, engineers, teachers, police officer etc yet we still hear of these silly tales of ignorant uneducated plebs making comments about which they understand nothing.
Ah well... keep smiling peeps![]()
874 Miles in one day...need a bit of a rest first!
Hey - we're all bikers, motorcyclists, motorcycle riders, whatever. Having known all types from HA to weekend sportsbikers and mods, I've found that no matter what else we do in our lives, we are in fact all just lovers of powered two wheel riding (yes, even scooters), and creating factions with some of the comments in this thread is actually very very silly.
So there.
