    Good grief!

TV Star Warned Over Waving Knife At Intruders - Yahoo! News UK

I wonder whether the Hertfordshire police would class a 12" dildo or an inflatable sheep as "offensive weapons"? (If brandished by an expert in their usage...of course).
What in the world has happened to the UK? Has common sense and the concept of the "reasonable man", emigrated too? I'm stunned that now you aren't allowed to even protect your family in your own house? (I'm not talking about running down the street after burglars with cricket bats etc, as in a previous thread).
Sorry, but I was amazed by this story.

    crackers!

I have to say, regardless of the consequences, I'm a soft lump but I would use any measure neccessary (and there are a few lying round the house given my hobbies!) to protect my family! as I think would most people. After all it is one of the most fiercly active insticts we still have, protecting our nippers.

So if carrying a knife in your own home is carrying an offensive weapon, how are you meant to chop your veg? Call a copper to do it for you? Utter $hite.

    Re: Good grief!

To be honest i don't really give a **** what the law says, if someone enters my house or i think they are going to and i think any member of my family is in danger then i`m doing whatever possible to inflict damage upon them. I really don't care what the consequences are so long as we are all safe, they shouldn't be trying to in the first place then they wont be feeling any pain... simple.

Health & Safety Laws here in the UK mean that unless you have a sign on the door stating...

"Baseball bat wielding crazed loon inside, go on, make his day"

    ..you will be in trouble!!!

    Re: Good grief!

I seem to recall awhile ago some bloke, think it was Cambridge area... knocked himself a home made canon that fired cow dung or summit to scare of the scrotes that where repeatedly robbing from him... And I think he got a warning from the law threatening prosecution if he used it.
Where as the robbing scum carried on as normal.

    Re: Good grief!

I met a guy in Winchester who had 10ft walls all round his home. People kept climbing over to burgle him, so he got some cement and broken glass and made the top of the (already 10ft high - remember) wall a bit jagged.

The police came round and told him he had to get rid of the sharp bits as people had complained of getting cut.

What were they doing 10ft up a private wall?
