How much does your day (or week) cost??

Something else just prompted this thought.

Is it possible to compute how much your day/week has cost you, and how much of that cost the UK Government has raked off in Taxes??

Income Tax
VAT
National Insurance
Tax and VAT on all goods
Tax on savings
Tax on capital gains
Tax to use the roads
Tax on fuel
Tax on heating fuel
Licence fees to watch TV
Inheritance Tax

Is there a figure on the total amount the UK Government collects in Taxes every day/week/year??

Is there an audit of what they spend it on or where it all goes?

It's easy to slag off this country, but deep down I love it (I think), but I do sometimes worry that I do for the wrong reasons. Once upon a time I had a great job, which slowly turned into an awful job and horrible place to work. The only thing that kept me there were my friends, and fear of the unknown (i.e leaving!). Is living in the UK the same?

add to that the tax the people making the stuff, delivering it etc pay and i reckon the government get 95% of ya money

i beleive most of these taxes are spent on mp's expenses

as yet i understand food is vat free and there is no tax on sex.
but too much food will make you a fat basteward and you'll have no chance of the other tax free option

I am working on something related. The HMRC annual report will tell you how much tax is collected.

There are annual reports form each department and the Red Book from the budget would give you useful comparisons of past and predicted expenditure.

It's not a quick job though.

Join the Territorial Army and you get paid with the money you paid out in tax, they also tax it so, you pay tax on your tax.
Fuel is only 39p per litre, that is taxed as the company pays tax on its income.
The rest of the cost is tax, that is taken out of the money you have paid tax on . Food is taxed as production is a business, so the company pays tax, they pay you out of the money they make after tax and tax you on it.
If only you could change your name to TAXMAN and then claim they owe you all that money.
