Its the power and hardcore I want, I guess I'll be sticking to looking an XR (650)

Don't knock the XR650. Fine for miles, lots of miles, and can still be put round the Weston course, abeit slowly!
Padded shorts all the way!!
Plenty of punch, no real speed, but it gets as fast as it goes real quick! (And can spend a bit of time on the back wheel in more capable hands than mine.)
I'm not knocking it, thats what I want, I'm waiting for J emailing me
Biggest smile of any bike I've had!

FMX is a nice bike to ride but its quite lame, well not lame as such but nowhere near as grunty as it looks. the drz400 is better even with the smaller engine, even my old XT600E supermoto will pee all over one.
if you want grunt then theres a few bikes around, XR, KTM, husqvarna/husaberg, yam WRs(if you can get a road legal one), but as has been said they are spanner intensive and expensive
Why has no one mentioned the CCM's, are they really that bad..
oh yeah and CCM.
no they arent bad, its just that they are such a small concern theyre hard to remember unfortunately. when they first came out i seriously looked at an R30
Yea its the R30 I was looking at, they seem good and like the style but are seemingly let down with dodgy electrics. having said this, I'm still getting pulled towards the XR650, I was looking at J's bike on the link he sent from ebay, looks good, but alot of bids on it.
Rather than a full blown SM why not try a KTM Duke. Same weight and dims as a SM but in a more road biased package - one of the best handling road bike I have ever ridden and the 690 motor is one of the smoothest singles on the market.- expensive new , but lots around.
My main issue with SMs is the high front mudguard , getting covered in road ****e is not compensation for asthetics !!!
But if you plan to use it in only dry days around towns etc , then thats not a problem.
2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!![]()
2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.
I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!
