It seems only fair that because in times of stress my bikes get called names like "you flicking dratsab" "you stinking piece of crap" that in less stressful moments you should have something a little more endearing to call your steed..........Like black betty
2001 Black and Gold RD07a or "Black Betty" as I like to call her

i guess we all have some sort of affection for our bikes? some give them names, others(like me) just pat their tanks and say "well done" after a good ride and getting us back home safe with a happy smile on our faces?

    WHY??

why give a bike a name?

dont think i have ever called any of my bikes or the few cars by a name.

well only if they break down! then its "start you feckin piece of......"

Honda give them names, so why can't owners do the same???

Do you call your bike an XRV750 or do you call it by it's name "Africa Twin"???

I also do agree that it's mostly the girlies that name their bikes, but my current RD04 is regarded as "Old Faithful" in my mind (I never actually call it that) because it has served me so well, even with the abuse and neglect I give it.

On the HUMM last year, I did see big PhilW riding his Transalp, and occasionally he'd look down and start talking about his "Little Fireman" so he obviously has a name for his!!!!
