    Recommend me some music please

My MP3 collection is getting a little stale and the last time I asked for suggested albums a couple of cracking albums that I'd never heard of were forthcoming. So a few years on I'll try again and see what others are listening to.

So... If you would care to recommend me an album that really should be in everyones MP3 player what would it be?

Currently the MP3 player has everything from Bix Beiderbecke to Lemon Jelly so my tastes are best described as eclectic therefore nothing is off limits. Except gangsta rap.

This week, iTunes informs me that I have been mostly listening too...

OK Go - Of the Blue Colour of the Sky (check out the OK Go - This Too Shall Pass video on Youtube - a great 'one shot' piece with no post production trickery)

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Greatest Hits

Re: Recommend me some music please

Scottish connections attempted from my own eclectic collection.

Stiff Little Fingers 15 and counting. The live concert at the 15th consecutive St Patrick's night concert at the Barrowlands, Glasgow. In fact I believe I have a spare copy of this on CD so could even post it.

Eddi Reader sings the songs of Robbie Burns. My love is like a red, red rose and the orginal of Auld Lang Syne will make your hair stand on end. The rest is great too.

Spotlight on the Corries - for the original of Flower of Scotland (prefer the Red Hot Chilli Pipers Bagrock for the masses version, so get that too).

The best of Spear of Destiny - includes the Flying Scotsman. Kirk Brandon recently joined Twitter and immediately started following me - no idea why, but there you go. Obviously, anything by Theatre of Hate counts too.

Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine -specifically the album 30-something, which includes the song Sealed with a Glasgow kiss. My mate from Uni managed the band and I interviewed one of them once (for Local Government Chronicle, believe it or not). Saw rthem in Brixton Academy last year - "You fat *******" chanted by all of us fat bastards.

Ewan McColl singing Jock Hawk's Adventures In Glasgow (I have albums of his but this is from A celebration of British Folk).

So, moving swiftly on from that, how about Florence and the Machine? Or some Ska or reggae?
