Non nodding Maroon 700 rider A27

I keep meaning to write to a magazine, but this is a personal bug bear; actually I find it really gets to me.
I see a guy, he's travelling Brighton to Eastbourne direction each morning; he NEVER nods.
The fact that I ride a Transalp shouldn't matter.
I've ridden since 17. Worked on bikes, ridden off road, commuted, toured abroad, aware of why bikes first started, have a good knowledge of bikes, get the ethos.
I HATE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT NOD. THEY CAN BURN IN ......
Actually, stangely enough, I don't feel any better know

I hope he sees this, but I doubt he's a member.' annnnnd breathe

I see a few bikes on my way into work in the mornings and only one of them nods! He rides a Kwacka ER-6.

Something has gone a bit wrong with the etiquette of bikers, I Nod at everyone but quite a lot of bikers never react to you whatsoever! They can't use the fact that they are focusing on the road as an excuse, because I am another road user, therefore should get a bit of their attention.

It Annoys me too, I just usually mutter under my breath "miserable sod"!

    No Sense of community!

    We are British.

It would not be proper for us to nod our heads off. In fact we might crash and scratch our loverly bike.

It does annoy me too, sometimes.

Maybe it's an age thing; I'm not that old though!
I recall the need for bikes as transport, the enjoyment of servicing as well; actually that was before I did Transalp tappets
The bond of bikers doesn't appear as strong.

It could be, when I started riding bikes were only just becoming reliable, there were still a few triumphs and BSA's around but Honda were beginning to take hold.
Now all the riders seem to have sports bikes that if they go wrong go straight back to the dealer, very few know how to change a bulb or adjust a chain, let alone service the beast.

I have been riding bikes since I was 16 years old and I am now 63 (you do the maths) When I started everyone gave you a wave but times change and I just accept that not everyone wants to/can't be bothered to wave or nod to every other bike and it does not matter to me as I have better things to get upset about.
Just enjoy your bike, your life, the road you are travelling and let the others get on with it.

Re: Non nodding Maroon 700 rider A27

Sometimes it's not the lack of nodding, it's that I've put feeling into my nodding, it's like saying 'Hi fellow biker', so it feels like a kick in the head when you are ignored.
I'm sorry to say, that a number of times, I have wished the biker ill. Sorry to say that and possibly wrong of me to do it.
I love biking and it is a passion.
In future, I'll nod and keep my eyes closed, so I'll never know

Re: Non nodding Maroon 700 rider A27

Living in central London, I'd get RSI if I nodded at all 50 bikes I pass on the 5 minute ride to the office, so I tend not to bother when there are lots of bikes around. But I almost always nod at a lone biker - even scooters.

Strings of bikes are a challenge though. In Europe you can just keep your left hand out in a long salutation but here? Should you keep bobbing for each one?

I tend to nod at other motorcycle riders (L platers as well if they are riding sensibly with proper kit on) and ignore Chavpeds.

But I find I have to nod first it's rare to get someone nod at me first?

I do find it’s typically the BMW rider’s classic and New who either look at you blankly or down there noses at you if you nod are them?
