What I must say is how fantastic it feels to ride in the right gear and how much the world smells!
What an earthy smell absolutely wonderful.

Despite the rain the temp was about 14 degrees and as I had invested early on in some sympatex triumph textiles (which at the time I remember thinking I had better not tell the wife) after 1 1/2 hour riding the only part of my clothing wet was the ends of the cuffs on my work shirt- this was only because the waterproof summer gloves are a bit short and water just started to leak in.

The Varadero with some tourance on never missed a beat, started curt time and never twitched once despite there being 3 inch of water and torrents of rivers across the carriageway.

Got home and dumped the gear tondry off and my wife thought I was mad (perhaps I am) as I was still grinning - she was expecting grumpy who needed a bath.

Sorry for the drivel but with the right gear, right bike and right attitude there isn't any conditions I would consider taking the car these day.

    Ride the storm!

+1 on everything you just said!

i love driving in the rain!!!
    everything is OK

I have ridden in some bad storms and with the correct gear, the only complaint is catching up to lorries with all the spray they chuck out.

    Re: Ride that Storm!

After watching a proper black cloud go over yesterday afternoon with lightening & thunder , I had a look at the BBC ceefax to find a clear night ahead.

So I persuaded my mate(Bikermike) to come to Southport for a meet at the Carousel - ALWAYS loads of bikers there!! - not a soul Probably the now BLACK skies & thundering rain didn't help

'Lets go to the Hen & Chicken at Maghull, ALWAYS loads of bikers there was my next idea

Rode in the beautifully refreshing rain to find it boarded up & no bikers and the rain kept coming down

''I've got an idea Mike'' to which he replied. Well actually it was more of a sign than an answer

How was I to know his new SAHARA suit wasn't waterproof

    Happy days!

Riding in foul weather with the right kit is great, but as others have mentioned when the road starts looking like this I'd rather be home

    Re: Ride that Storm!

Was it blowy yesterday as one of the roads on our bus route is closed due to a fallen tree?
