    Ride that Storm!

Think we are having the full months rain this afternoon.
Just ridden home through the most rain I have seen in my short riding time.

What I must say is how fantastic it feels to ride in the right gear and how much the world smells!
What an earthy smell absolutely wonderful.

Despite the rain the temp was about 14 degrees and as I had invested early on in some sympatex triumph textiles (which at the time I remember thinking I had better not tell the wife) after 1 1/2 hour riding the only part of my clothing wet was the ends of the cuffs on my work shirt- this was only because the waterproof summer gloves are a bit short and water just started to leak in.

The Varadero with some tourance on never missed a beat, started curt time and never twitched once despite there being 3 inch of water and torrents of rivers across the carriageway.

Got home and dumped the gear tondry off and my wife thought I was mad (perhaps I am) as I was still grinning - she was expecting grumpy who needed a bath.

Sorry for the drivel but with the right gear, right bike and right attitude there isn't any conditions I would consider taking the car these day.

    Ride the storm!

I don't mind riding any weather (except ice) in the right gear but at this time of year to still have the rain suit in the top box is a bit annoying.

I'd rather it were blazin hot and in a leather jacket and some jeans.

    Re: Ride that Storm!

I drove through that on my way home from work.

It was truly the worst rain storm I've ever seen,

(not particularly windy between Knowsley and Warrington but unbelievable amount of water falling from the sky!)

    rather you than me!

Good wet weather gear is worth it's weight in gold (as long as you remember to wear it!)

    Well done that man...

    Re: Ride that Storm!

Well I got lucky tonight. Watched a spectacular storm at work with extraordinarily heavy rain, then gave it 10 mins and left. I followed that storm all the way up the M6 but never got properly rained on. Lots of surface water and floods even on the motorway and a great light show with sheet and forked lightening all over the sky. Arrived at home to a flooded garden but I was virtually bone dry

I got luckier, managed to pass my mod 2 in between storms

Did get caught on the way home though, Alpinestars Dry Star suit was just that though, highly recommended.
