Where do you buy your spare / service parts from?

    Hi all.
I'm interested in conducting a little survey to see where you buy your spare / replacement / service parts from for your bike.

This to do some research to help me to understand our buying habits.
Please publicise this survey as widely as possible as I'd like to get a good sample of people completing it.

I also hope I ask the right questions first time. I may take a couple of attempts as the responses come in. I'm primarily interested in whether you buy from an Internet retailer or go in to your local emporium.
There will probably be some more polls off the back of this one.

It's a bit basic. I buy mainly online or on the phone but inevitably have to pop to Halfords or buy brake pads urgently from Watlings or am passing J&S so nip in and pick up what I need.

David silver's for anything that I definitely want to be original Honda items. Wemoto, LM spares, busters/M&P etc for anything I am happy to take pattern part. Halfords for oils, plugs and anythng else big standard. Local dealer by phone to pick up if I want it quick - next day(do they ever actually stock anything - they even had to order in an oil filter once!!).

We tend to buy trade from the dealers (comes in handy being a registered motorsport business)

Mostly David Silvers and Wemoto. I think the only thing that I go and buy locally is oil. Galway is not really the centre of the motorcycling universe.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Re: Where do you buy your spare / service parts from?

I suppose I should qualify my vote.

If I need a single service part like an air filter it's often as quick and cheap getting it from my local main dealer but I do check online first to check the local prices aren't too silly. Other more expensive OEM parts like C&S sets or boxes of oil filters (or stuff I'm not in a rush for) I tend to get from the likes of David Silver.

Brake pads and other non Honda bits I tend to shop around for and go with the best deal.

Oil I buy at HG £13 for 4 litres of bike semi synth, Cheapest by far.

Re: Where do you buy your spare / service parts from?

I must be the odd one out here

I mostly use a local independant guy that fits any parts at reduced or no cost.

The same works for my mountain bikes where my local (ish) shop fits any parts purchased for free.

Oh, and a very nice RD04 HRC coloured Marathon Replica

Re: Where do you buy your spare / service parts from?

If it's tyres or oil, fluids etc. I'll get it from my local dealer. He also MOTs my bikes.
I'd like to give him more business, but if I need consumables, it is probably David Silver, or if older bikes Wemoto.
The dealer is Park Motorcycles, Eastbourne.
They do not have a website and are closed Wednesdays.
They haven't changed too much, but I like that. They are a proper bike shop.
I did get my helmet from him too.

Whoever has the cheapest of what Im looking for (and by cheapest I suppose I mean best value). Its all down to cost for me - not tied to any dealer, internet dealer etc etc.

Re: Where do you buy your spare / service parts from?

I nearly always use a local bike shop... I did get the HG deal recently of £20 for oil+filter but i'm not gonna pass up a good offer.

The reason i like to use the same shop is you get to know the guy, you know your not gonna get ripped off and he's the sort of guy who wil adjust this or that for you and not charge.
