This could be in riding or bodger's corner or travel or Kawasaki or here but it deserves maximum exposure.
A lad set out to ride the whole Panamerican Highway on a KLR but there is no road across the Darien Gap - a notorious bit of swamp and rainforest and mountain between Colombia and Panama which has only been crossed a handful of times. So he and some genius Aussie youngsters he met have made a boat to be powered by the KLR.
The engineering report is stunning: http://bridginggaps.com.au/fourstrok...greport_en.pdf
And they made it!! Another way up... - ADVrider
The chap is a complete head-case. Having lost his passport in Canada, he built a raft round the bike and drifted down river into Alaska. Later, having traded his knackered KLR and $100 for a Volvo in order to be able to pick his girlfriend up from Vancouver, he admitted his crime at the border and, hearing of his adventures, they let him through!!
Probably the best adventure ride I've read.
