    Microsoft Software

This is just a heads up really, for anyone needing or looking for FANTASTIC bargains on Microsoft software, including Windows 7, Office 2010, Visio etc.

I've used "Software for Students" in the past as I am a, hurrrrherrm, STUDENT, but their heavy discounts from Microsoft will be ending at the end of March.

You can qualify for these fantastic offers if you are a student, teacher, parent or guardian of a student etc.

    Genuine Windows 7 from £38

Genuine Office 2010 for less than £38

I just thought I'd bring this to the attention of forum members before the offer ends.

Student discounts, deals & offers for premium software in UK

That kind of offer is called a HOME USER PROGRAM, and it extends a corporate business' MS licence for employees that need to use it at home. It used to be free, a company could give a disc to an employee, but there was no way of policing it. The way they do it now is to offer the HUP to employees which entitles them a massive discount depending on how many users the company's licence covers.

The HUP offer wouldn't be available to the casual user (student or parent) and the Software for Students offer is probably the best genuine software option for those struggling with the cost of keeping their kids computers up-to-date.

If thats what they do then they've lost a huge amount of money as there are 800 people in the factory everybody had the entitlement and there only 40 people there max that use a PC

Don't quite understand how they lost money then? Out of the 800, if only 40 use PC's, how were the other 760 going to use it if they don't use computers?

Also, to get the benefit of the HUP, you need to have a company email address for the registered company to qualify. You have to get the code emailed to your company email address, so if they don't have PC's or company email accounts, they wouldn't have been able to take advantage of it.

Easy to get around IT can create a company e-mail for you leave it open for a while then close it after a short period of time. I don't have a works e-mail account but the offer still worked for me. I downloaded it at home so it's on my home PC's
