Scary yes, Skilled yes ! That's if your pilot isn't used to the conditions.

Years backed I flew regularly with my job. I was on a Scandinavian Airways DC9 landing in similar conditions in a snow blizzard at Tromso airport in the Arctic. I was totally shi**ing myself and thought it was the end for us all. Most people remained calm though, and after we landed I discovered the conditions were fairly common on the island and the crew were well experience with these landings.

I was up there for three months and I spent every day worrying about the return journey.Ended up smooth as silk though, even taking off on fresh snow !

Edit : This is so anal I know, but for nostalgic reasons I just googled and got this ( no storm ). Is there nothing that can't be found on the net ??

Three or four times for my old work, I had to fly to Jersey and Guernsey.
In between Jersey and Guernsey they used Trislanders. These were 16 seaters, including the pilot.
When coming into land, it was windy and he would bring the plane down at 45 degrees to the runway and just as he touched down, righted the plane. Great fun and very clever.
I'm older now and whilst wouldn't mind it on tiny planes, I'd poop myself on those Bilbao planes.

For a standard commercial pilot that would have been a challenge, for the passengers that would have been bricking it time

    Brings back a few memories

Used to fly to Scatsta in Shetland with Shell uk, flying with the oil rig bears. Shell were pretty determined to get the guys onto the rig at all costs ( unfortunately not so eager to get them back off the island.... been bumped sooooo many times ) and as a result used to have some really scary landings.

The way I used to think was, well the guy in the front, the pilot, he doesn't want to die does he ???

Worked for me, that, and clutching a handful of worry beads

Looks interesting and some good pilot skills, the only bit about flying thats in any fun is taking off, landing and turbulence. Most of any plane journey is boring as fook, it's not like you can go out for a walk too stretch the legs

Funny that, I used to fly to Guernsey every 2 months for about 3 years in the late 1990's and had a few interesting flights. I think although not an eventfull flight looking out the window and seeing this was probably tyhe one I remember the most.
