    Motorcycle Parking

    Hi Guys (And gals)

Just a quick Cry for help

Theres about half a dozen of us who ride to work, whilst we dont have any specific provision for bike parking we've managed to purloin a nice little place to park up. Flat, hard, nice and visible slap bang next to the main enterance, surrounded by anti ram raid posts so no chance of an accidental collison with an errant car or delivery truck and i made sure its covered by the site CCTV (The perks of being head of security )

All was well with the world until a few days ago, The half dozen of us have been riding to work for a total of over 30 years. Now about two weeks ago up trolls a new biker (I use the term Loosely) on a hairdryer. Starts parking like a C**k, blocking exits, sideways, all sorts, completely ignoring the unmarked "Bays" and generally ignoring all common sense. Despite polite requests and protetations from the rest of us to "play the game"

Now yesterday he parks his bike under the entrance canopy jammed up against the door and the big boss almost trips over it on the way out. Understanably he goes balistic. Next thing out goes the "Its not a bike parking area, Shift em" email.

Peeved but being resonable finds another location to park the bikes.

Now the question, have started a dialouge with our facilites boss about getting some "Formal" parking area for the bikes, putting up the arguments of it fits with our Green travel plan, reduces pressure on parking etc. But does anyone know if there are any standards for Motorcycle parking provision. looking at what should it be built like, anchor points canopy etc. Might as well go for it seeing as our hand has been forced. but it would be good to have a reasonable stick to hit them with.

By the way if you see a P***K on a red white and black "Raptor" hairdryer near where i work please feel free to punch him.

Ask for everthing floor anchors, canopy, lighting heating and cctv etc. When the boss only offers floor anchors and a shelter he will think he's got a bargain and you have got what you really need.

We've got an alarmed, ID security accessed bike cage with CCTV and ground anchors for about 20 bikes.

It helps that the head of security is a biker who had his bike nicked last year

    Re: Motorcycle Parking

Why not write a reply to the boss's email desacribing what you have told us, explain how you all have parked with no bother until this one idiot rocked the boat. Explain that you would prefere not to go down the route of alternate parking for the bikes because this may cost the company money and you are trying to avoid that because of one idiots actions.

If he's a reasonable guy he'll probably understand.

If it were me i'd have grabbed him by now (the idiot, not the boss) because i once grabbed someone and threatened to jump on their heads because he used the last of my milk without asking and i couldn't have my cornflakes in the morning when i got to work.
