Is anyone going to the Horizons Unlimited Meet in Ripley Ė 5th to 8th of July? Itís lining up to be a magic event for anyone interested in long distance travel. And we've just had it confirmed that the local TRF will be leading a or some trail rides!
If youíve not booked yet then you do that here: Horizons Unlimited Motorcycle Travellers' Meeting - UK 2012
Thereís a huge number of excellent presentations going on and as usual there will be a bunch of characters there. Ted Simon and Austin Vince to name just 2. And of course, donít forget Roadkill Danny! If youíve been before youíll know what he and Fil get up to. Skills for life? Oh yes!
Some of you guys will know that after years of going as just me, I volunteered to help out with the organisation. The hat I wear is all to do with Volunteers, Vendors, fund raising for Motorcycle Outreach and the basic stuff like toilets and showers etc.
With my Volunteer specific hat on, would anyone who is planning to go be up for volunteering to help out for a few hours. Last year we had over 100 people much in to help out and that was simply brilliant. It meant that no one ended up doing too many hours.
Some of the jobs need just a couple of 2 hour stints and others a little more. They are all vital as far as making the event run as smoothly as it does. Without help, well, anyone who has been involved with such an event, or has watched the goings on will know what Iím talking about.
Iíve still got spaces left on the First Aid (got to be a Doc, a Nurse or a registered, and up to date, first aider) and on the Recycle Crew Ė rubbish used to be bunged on the fire and burnt! Not any more. We also need some Gofers. These volunteers are the oil in the engine as in, wherever there is a gap then they help by slotting in Ė nice varied role and all the crews give you the chance to meet and make new friends.
Enough rattle from me. Methinks youíve got the gist. It doesnít matter if you are already registered to go or still have to do so. Just click on this link: Horizons Unlimited Motorcycle Travellers' Meeting Volunteers Registration
Hope to see you there.
All the best,
