    The Naming

As we all know, yer trusty steed needs a name, sometimes it'll be an affectionate and gentle name, sometimes it is named with a touch of respect and/or fear!

My Vara is now named, as it's the first bike I have ever owned and cannot pick up on my own!

BUFF as she shall now be known, fell over when I stupidly left the side stand down as I wheeled it backwards out of the steel container down a 3-4"
step, the stand dug in and flipped the bike to the right, and as I had greasy hands, down it went. I am pretty sure most here will know exactly what BUFF stands for

Thank goodness for engine bars!! It was damned awkward where it fell over so in the end a strap and a farm loader got it vertical and I learned a
valuable lesson.... DONT DROP IT, and never, never go off-road with it without a big mate alongside..... A fit big mate...!

No damage apart from a scratch on the bars and a slightly wonky mirror head that might need a looking at.

    Buff it is....

    Re: The Naming

Well, I know that T.E.Lawrence named his Brough Superiors "Boanerges", but I never liked the idea of giving a piece of machinery a personal name. Nor do I like the idea of referring to machinery as "she".

It may hark back to childhood.

    It'll buff out?

My late lamented NX was Igor, for obvious reasons:

The GS hasn't got a name yet, I've only had it for 6 years. Well, it's the Cow, but that's more a generic name for all boxers.

From the look of your pic, "buffing out" is an alien concept, more Hammerite it ...

That's what I should've done, it wouldn't have rusted the way it did.

But, yeah. I don't really do polishing. But then I've never had a new bike.
