As for Jimmy Carr or Take That, this has been going on for decades - The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, even the Two Ronnies have been tax exiles. As for U2, don't start me.

Excellent Giles... that only goes to re-inforce my original direction of this thread ie:- camerons buffoonery
we all know the super rich have been pulling stunts like this for ages and the goverment have unofficially held off stamping it out altogether to keep the top players in this country some of whom have no scruples whatsoever and would gladly sell beefburgers made out of old ladies if they could get away with it and make a fat profit.

it's just the way he sits there bold as f*#cking brass and talks about.....MORALITY

Nooo - don't get me started on Politics! You're right about DC! I just heard this morning that he's now decided they don't need a referendum after all to reform the House of Lords - umm, it's called "democracy" Davey! They've made it clear that the reforms will stop the ability of the Lords to block new laws.

Sure, idealistically we wouldn't have hereditary peers having a say in running the country but this scares the hell outta me because when we get some nut job dictator in power (umm... Cameron... *cough* Brown.... could get worse though still....) the Lords could up til now put the brakes on when the Commons try to pass some crazy, evil, authoritarian new law. Whether they would or not is another matter, but the way things are going with our governments, any second opinion from a disconnected group of people (yes even aristocracy) that can slow down the pace of change is a good thing in my book and needs to be there.

I know it's the Lib Dems who really want this, but all three major parties seem to have turned into a bunch of extremist power crazed lunatics since I grew up. It sucks.

it seems we are heading closer and closer to a dictatorship goverment and the current "terror" threat appears to provide the perfect vehicle for goverments to introduce further and further restrictions on civil liberties.

ironic when you think that most terrorist groups call themselves 'freedom fighters'

Taxpayers fork out £5.8MILLION a year to subsidise MP's meals at Westminster.

A typical meal rib-eye steak with hand-cut chips and Béarnaise sauce costs £2 (£7.80, less a taxpayers’ subsidy of £5.92.)

Details obtained under Freedom of Information laws lay bare the full extent of the dissatisfaction.
Scores moaned about the standard of their heavily-subsidised food in a survey of politicians and their staff.
They whinged about the wine waiters and complained that coffee bar staff did not know the difference between a cappuccino and a latte.

The complaints about the cheap meals and wine at Westminster come in a survey of MPs and their staff conducted by private pollsters — costing taxpayers another £27,790.

But one MP whinged: “The restaurants are Soviet-style. Vegetables are horrendously overcooked, meat is often raw

My heart goes out to these people. And they only have 5 months a year holiday with a 4 day week and have to take freebies round the world each summer. And with 'pairing', they don't have to clock in and can go off on 'Parliamentary business'.

I once spoke to an MEP and he described Westminster as 'The Fun Palace on the River'.

    Someone has to do it.
