No, you're not the only one who feels that way Boris. I agree with the sentiments expressed by you and Zenarchy (glad I'm not the only one who views athletics as running around in circles).

My Council Tax rate was increased a few years ago to pay for the 'Lympics I neither wanted nor was consulted about. The roads are chaotic and ditto the tube (depends where you go) and now my work place has been taken over by the Belgians. This has resulted in access/facility limitations.

The country is broke and in a depression. Very few Londoners will benefit from this. Instead lots of corporations will make a lot of profit (tax free/with large tax breaks for official sponsors).

And yes, I resent having my everyday life affected (work place, travel and council tax) when I didn't want the damn thing and have no interest.

As to blanket coverage in papers and on the news, I too find it laughable that a glorified sports day is taking precedence over Syria, the economy, anything interesting.

And let's not forget the diplomatic incident over the North Korean flag. One of the most politically sensitive areas on the planet just now!

Clearly this points out the desperately poor standard of education when the Olympics committee work experience monkey doesn't know that there are two Koreas - North and South.
