the silly miles are over.....thankgod !

Last day of my contract yesterday, since November the 11th last year i have been doing 700+ miles per day on the bike 5 days a week, and the poor old bikes have had a bad time of it,

The @ has done most of the work i have taken it from 60,000 kms round the clock and now on 92,000 kms. (about 79,000 miles in 10 months on this bike)

have done the oil every 8,000 miles

Iridium plugs have been doing 25,000 a set

tyres have been doing 9,000 rear and 18,000 front

It has not missed a beat ! scotoiler keeps stopping working and the lights have messed me about a few times but can't fault it.

so next few weeks wil be spent doing the re-build and respray.

The other bike has been ok also (Good old Honda)
CBR600F1 (2002) IOM spec bike has done 24,000 miles since i bought it over to the mainland to help out in March
But it cost a lot more to run

    Oil every 4,000 miles

    Plugs every 10,000

Tyres every 3,000 to start, then i changed to BT020's and they do 8,000 miles so loads better

    Have half killed my clothing
The RUKKA gear looks like i have been changing engines in it but has never leaked once.
worn my fav leather gloves right through
bust the clips on my ROOF helmet
but the BMW system 4 is still going strong
and the BMW all weather gloves have never leaked once!

would not want to do this sort of miles again (was only meant to be for 6 weeks !) but have met some nice bikers on the way...and the things i have seen car drivers do is worrying to say the least.

Oh and i did about 12,000 miles in the car as well just so it did not feel left out!

Streuth and I thought my 86 mile, round trip, commute was bad. What are you going to do with all that, new found, spare time? LB.

Words fail me! Hope the money was really good! I love to travel by bike but this would certainly be a bit too much for me. Did you travel on the standard seat or have you got an aftermarket one? If so, would you recommend it? I've got a Corbin but I'm not impressed.

    Wow.... that's a lot....

Did you have any time left to work? Or just sit, drink a cuppa and go home again? At 40p a mile, wouldn't a hotel be cheaper?

    Respect.

Jesus H Christ in his sandles. Your a*se must be like a piece of old well polished leather.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

my bum was fine...as i have a modded seat, biggest problem was my back......
and my legs when on the CBR but that has a helpfull fuel problem which helps give them a rest.....it only does 90 miles on a tank so you stop lots.

was not meant to stop in a hotel as they wanted proof of the miles (as per the contract) and also the sites i worked on where about 200 miles apart so would have had no idea where to stop........ and her indoors likes me home each night...and i like being home.

You must be pretty good at what you do if they could afford to throw that much money your way and thats not even talking about your wage as i could only guess what that must have been!

Surely you must have a few bob over to treat yourself to a new bike from the travel expenses alone?
