    Favourite clothing?

Bit of a general question but this seems a good place to ask...

I've got a bit of a problem with bike clothing. I've got a good comfortable textile jacket that's made by BMW which I can wear all year round. I've also got a leather jacket which is nice now and again for the faster journeys. My real problem is in the trouser department! I've just got some new leather trousers and I don't like 'em one bit! The Alp is quite a tall bike and I'm not the tallest bloke so with leather trousers on I just feel a bit too restricted to the point where it's a bit of an effort to get my feet down when I come to a stop. I like the protection factor of leathers but there comes a point where if I can't move properly then I start to feel unsafe.

So what do other Alp riders favour? I've tried a couple of textile trousers but I just get way too hot in those. I'm thinking some of those reinforced draggin jeans with armour might be the best compromise?

    Cheers

    Jim

I've just bought an Aerostich roadcrafter suit which is fast becoming my most favourite bit of bike kit ever. Not cheap but quality gear. oh and it's actually got legs that are long enough for once.

Textile in the winter and leather with vented panels in the summer.

I don't go for jeans at all

I like my leathers, getting a bike was just an excuse but then they do fit properly

I've got draggin jeans and I love them but I haven't been down the road in them (yet?). I'm less impressed with the armour though. It's held in with velcro and the plastic is in contact with your skin which is uncomfortable and tends to pull the armour out of place. I'm planning to make pockets of some sort to fit them in place. I also wear protective textile waterproofs when the weathers really bad, I get too hot in them as well.

Got to be motocross trs with extra shin/knee armour, if its crap out, I wear a thin pair of overtrousers underneath, tucked over the waterproof socks.
    Seems to work fine!

Oh, and the magic Sinisalo enduro jacket. Just wonderful.

    Re: Favourite clothing?

I've gone for the Hein Gericke summer stuff -Taureg Trail I think it is called - at a total cost of about £160 for jacket and trousers.
In summer you can unzip and let the air in. I'm getting a perforated hi-viz waistcoat to go over the top that will still let the air through (£3).
In winter I stick an ex-police goretex hi-viz jacket over the top making it warm, waterproof and the traffic parts like Moses and the Red Sea. There's enough room under the HG jacket for fleeces etc. In summer I intend to carry the goretex jacket with me and slip it on if it rains. Goretex hi-viz jacket - £50 from eBay.
Recently I have been wearing the summer trousers and putting a pair of ex-army goretex trousers (£10) over the top if raining. In winter these would not be warm enough. I have a pair of waterproof (can't remember the brand) but not breathable trousers. Trouble is you get off the bike walk inside (or just go off-road) and sweat like a pig, take them off and they stink. I'm after a pair of HG Cruise Goretex trousers for the winter. Then I reckon I'll have everyting I need.
The only problem is boots. I went cheap and it doesn't work, so I may spend a bit more on waterproof boots. I do have a pair of ex-army goretex sock though which means even when the boots leak my feet don't get wet. But wet boots makes for cold feet.
Of course I could stiop riding through rivers

    Here'sthe hi-viz goretex jacket:

    Two XRV750-M ('91) RD04s on J ('92) plates.
Laser Pro Duro, crash bars, bark busters, heated grips, GPS, topbox, Alu Boxes, Scotoiler, Starcom, ciggie lighters and XRV stickers.

I almost stand out as much in my Linstrands Camo get up:

This is the jacket, but I have the matching trousers (pants) too.

Also a pair of BMW GS1 Enduro boots.

If I could sort the fogging up of my Arai Tour-X, I'd be sorted!

The Lindstrands stuff is not up to Rukka levels, but it is pretty damn good. A lot of thought has gone into them and they are almost four season clothing. You get what you pay for (£200 jacket and £180 pants, boots would have been £280 but got off eBay for £145 secondhand, used twice).

I did have a Spada textile jacket and Spidi leather jeans. The jeans were very good quality but when it was cold and/or rained, not good. The Spada jacket was not breathable, so was a bit boil-in-the-bag, and was not completely waterproof either.

I have used overproofs, but the boil-in-the-bag effect is awful. Leathers inside a plastic bag...ugh.

In the end, I just got fed up with black and found textiles have come on a long long way in past 5 years...as you can see!
