Looking for a new jacket and got my eye on Hein Gericke Toureg Rallye GTX 2 and Halvearssons Medusa.
Anyone got either, would like to know how they perform in the wet and hot weather.

Also looked at the tuareg but!!!! it only has a removable waterproof membrane which means the jacket will get proper wet,so if you would be on a longer trip you would be riding around in a wet jacket![]()
dont know about the other one
I got the HG voyager must be now 5 years old and is still waterproof, can not recomend it enough
His Lordship
I thought that about the Toureg. Might sneak into HG with a bottle of water and see how waterproof the outer is![]()

Piguglyshandydrinker has Tuareg jacket, he can probably speak for himself but I think he is off on a big trip at the mo, but he did grumble to me about how wet the outer got, the weight when wet and how long it took to dry. He is normally pretty much spot on when it comes to bike gear.
I have a Spyke Typoon or something which is great except for no vents for those few really hot days when you need them.
2001 Transalp XLV650. Faithful old friend still chugging away nearly 100,00miles
2007 Varadero XLV1000. Now you're torquing but sadly gone to another forum member. One of the best bikes - period.
Yamaha XT660r - slowly getting it ready for some big adventures
Hmm.. was hoping to hear good things about the Tuareg (eventually got the spelling right) as they do 0% over 10 months. Don`t like the sound of a heavy wet outer.
The Halvearssons is looking favourite.

Been using an entry level Hein gericke gore tex jacket over the winter until now. Simple, warm and fully waterproof. Recommended. Not yet used in warm temperatures so cannot vouch for warmer weather.
I've got a Hein Gericke Journey jacket where the breathable waterproof membrane is separate and behind the non waterproof outer. I find the jacket gets quite heavy when wet and seems to fill up with water between the outer shell and waterproof layer, but more irritating once wet takes ages to dry, plus only the top pockets are waterproof so the others fill up with water too, especially yesterday evening.
Great value though the jacket was this puts me off buying another one or anything else of a similar design.
F800GS ...broom broom yeah!!!
What's more, having the outermost layer soaking will also make the jacket a lot colder.
I've got the old Tuareg Rallye GTX, and it sucks for all the reasons already mentioned. More, the goretex liner is one piece together with the thermo liner, so it's quite hot for a british summer, right up to the point where it starts raining.
That said, with the liner out it does make an excellent hot weather jacket. Light, breezy, but with protection where necessary. (And then if it starts raining you're going to get very wet indeed...)
I've now got a Dane Hoven jacket, which works a lot better.
