    Lightbulb CHEAP heated clothing

Following on from another post, heres my heated clothing solution after a VERY cold ride the other day (would love some proper heated kit, but i just cant afford it at the moment) :

I bought a heated car travel blanket from THE RANGE, proceeded to pull it to bits when i got home and removed the heating element from the blanket :

This is what i was left with after about 20 mins:

Then proceeded to glue sections of the element into an old cycling jersey i have (you could fit this to any jacket), just got to fit a lining (i'll use the white lining from the blanket to do this :

Tried plugging it into the bike this morning, and it gets nice and warm after about 5 mins - not super hot, but more than body heat . - element covers my whole torso (front and back) - didnt bother with the arms as they didnt get cold.

And the best bit of this 'kit' - cost £9.99 + an old jacket.

    Its pre-wired with a cigatette lighter socket/adapter.
It has a built in cut off switch.
Will stay on indefinitely (no batteries to worry about).
You get left with 2 large sheets of fleece blanket - great for polishing duties

Shall be looking forward to proper test over the next few days / weeks.

    Ant

    Brilliant
I just been playing around with heated insoles for my boots.A colleague had them still from last x-mas.They are from tschibo and i reckon i get them for £15-20.My body never gets cold only my hands(sorted, heated grips) and my feet.So i shall go for a ride just now and have a look how they work

Hey Mods as i said before i think we need a section for this sort of thing
    "HOMEBREW"
They call him "Ze Quiet one"
I listen to what the rice crispies tell me to do

    Re: CHEAP heated clothing

Very pleased to announce my DIY heated jacket works VERY well - now tried on the bike all afternoon with the engine running - makes more heat than when no engine - I was TOASTY warm - The jacket looks ####, so i'm not showing any more pics of it, but it works
