    Cleaning Kit

Not sure this is the right place but couldn't find anywhere more appropriate....

I have been using my Alpinestars SMX4 boots day in, day out for just over a year now and they are starting to hum a bit... My question is... How do you clean bike boots... Is is just a case of wash in a large bucket, fill with newspaper and put in the airing cupboard or is it more technical....

Oh and what cleaning products are advisable...??

Also textile kit... It is starting to covered in salt and ming and needs a good clean... Am I able to shove in the washing machine or is it bucket and brush job? Got a pair of Rukka trousers and a cheap Triumph jacket....

    Cheers....

For the textile kit, if it really is that bad try the dry cleaners.
For the boots industrial odour eaters.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

put the boots in the deep freeze overnight, the cold kills the bacteria that cause the pong. its germ farts basically, all those critters eating your sweaty dead skin cells.

dont ever dry clean anything with gore-tex in it, it doesnt like it. try a proper cleaner from nikwax

    Re: Cleaning Kit

Don't dry clean textiles. Unless it specifically says to, obviously, but I've never seen any that do. All mine has a big warning saying not to and detergents and fabric softeners can remove the water repellents. I use nikwax techwash, soap flakes and even just plain water. Not sure about your boots, I'm not sure what they're made of but I'd be inclined to wash and dry as you said.
