I'm looking for a textile winter jacket that will keep me warm and dry without breaking the bank (ie Rukka!)
What do you good folk recommend?

Got a good Dainese one, about 4 years old so not sure of the model.
Warm & waterproof, but trouble is the goretex layer is the middle one, so you end up riding around with about a stone of water in the top layer.
Due to that I hardly wear it, preferring a jumper, summer jacket and cheap waterproof/windproof outer layer. Extra layer to put on when it starts raining but all singing/all dancing super jackets need to hang somewhere to dry every night - hang it in the garage and it'll soon start to pong...
Yup... Get a WARM jacket and then buy a big wetproof to wear on top i use an old jackel which looks stupid but keeps me dry when other trendy people are ratteling in their boots.

Check out Hein Gericke
I have a £380 all singing, all dancing BMW Rallye Pro II jacket (Ewan and Charlie lookie likie). It too suffers from water absorbtion as the goretex is on the inside and it aint that warm,
However my Hein Gericke jacket that cost me £50 on eBay (£125 in the shops) is brilliant, waterproof and warm. Try their Toureg range for trail style gear.
HG also flog off all their returns and shop soiled stuff on eBay, they always describe exactly whats' wrong (although some kit is perfect) and there are bargins to be had.
Spada Turin kit is very warm and dry,(Cheap too about £150 for jkt and pants) must be quite a few on here using it now.
I have a rain proof top i put on if its too wet, its also an extra layer if its cold too..
HI
I got me and the boss 2 Frank Thomas jackets free with my first TA both have quilted removable liners and had lots of cold/wet use and no problems warm and dry. These aren,t the best but for free i aint complaining its about 5 years ago now but to buy them then £60/£70 each worth a look at!!!!!

I would strongly reccomend the Akito Desert Kit!! It has three layers and it has kept me warm and dry, Not too pricey either!!
All in all a good bit of kit!
Bought myself an Akito Desert suit for about £130 from nightingale motorcycles in Rugby (through ebay) so far it's proved to be excellent both warm and dry...... I still carry an rst all in one waterproof (£23 off ebay) though for when it gets really nasty
