    Dane clothing

Does anybody have experience of this gear?

Specifications look pretty good. All the textile jackets have Gore-tex linings or are made of Gore-tex XCR.

It looks like there's only one dealer in the UK.

As you browse keep an eye on the photos to the left. They're generated at random but many are of adventure bikes, several are of Africa Twins.

I liked the look of this clothing also, ruberchicken pointed it out in a previous thread Bloody Daft Sizes! but i couldn't find any reviews on it, it's pricey enough for it to be good gear but you never know.

    Dave,

I've got a mate who has a set and really likes it. He ordered through Fowlers in Bristol who had to get it in. It's the stuff with leather panels over the textile.

He's told me it's very warm so great this time of year but I dont think there's much in the way of venting for warmer climes. He had a problem with the leather but Fowlers exchanged the trousers I think and no problems since.

I'll ask him for a bit of a review and let you know.

    Cheers

Just spoken to my mate who has the Dane 'Hove' jacket and some Dane trousers. He confirmed that he really likes the jacket and was completely dry after riding from Bristol to Scotland in the rain wheras his companions were soaked. Likewise the trousers although the pair he has have a leather patch on the arse which he complains rubs a bit as the patch isn't quite big enough.

    Dave,

I have the Dane Orsted gloves, excellent piece of kit.

Fowlers now have a good range of Dane products on display.

It's good gear indeed. Expensive, but good.

I got an old Hoven GTX jacket from a mate, he'd had it for a while and had a crash in it. Insurance paid for new, but the jacket was still waterproof even if it looked a bit worse for wear and the liner was torn here and there. So he gave it to me to finish it off. I haven't yet, it's still waterproof.

Got a second (newer) one second hand cheaply, identical but in much better shape, and it's just good waterproof gear. It kept me completely dry on the friday ride out at the 2008 National, those who were there will know what that means.

One thing to note, the Hoven is quite heavy, and it does soak up a fair bit of water when it's bucketing down which makes it colder, and it takes forever to dry out. I've been told Goretex laminate is the answer to that, but I have no experience with that.

Just took a low speed tumble in it last week, and it doesn't even show. Already confirmed, still waterproof.

    I'll recommend it.
