    Textile Jacket repair

    Hi Good People

I was wondering if anyone can advise/recommend a method of repair or a company to repair the minor(ish) damage that i inflicted on a day old textile jacket (see pictures below). The damage is on the underside of each sleeve. On one sleeve it appears that only the stitching is damaged, however the other sleeve is a bit "shredded". As this jacket is brand new I would love to be able to salvage it.
    Cheers, Rob

I used this when i needed to mend the holes in my textile trousers:

Gore-tex Repair Kit (McNett) - available from outside.co.uk - Buy Online!

Works a treat and you can cut them to size.

The other thought is if it's brand you why not take it back to where you bought it and claim it as faulty?

The time honoured method is gaffer tape You need the proper stuff, not that poxy immitation (duck tape?) they sell in DIY stores. Seriously, it works quite well.

If the jacket is worth enough (which is probably the same as asking, "is it Goretex?"), and since it's nearly new, maybe a professional repair is in order?

I'm pretty sure that Slioch (makers of serious heavy duty mountaineering kit) used to do Gore-tex repairs. They seem to have become Firemore (that's what turns up if you google "slioch clothing"), and I don't know if they still do repairs, but worth a try, they really know what they're doing. Plus of course you'll be absolutely obligated to take a ride out to Poolewe

Google also throws up Tundra, never heard of them before, but they do Goretex and other waterproof clothing too.

FWIW, Carole Nash seem to offer fairly decent value cover for bike kit, if you take out their home insurance (why it comes with home insurance, not bike insurance, I have no idea!)

I have a Dry Cleaners Near me who do repairs and they repaired a textile jacket for £50 and that was in worse state than yours.
They also replaced a zip in my leather Trousers for £15.
Try a local Dry Cleaners to you to see if they do repairs.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

They are also the official repairer for Berghaus apparently. I'm due to be sending a jacket off to get a zip sorted out by them.

Many thanks for the help. I sent the jacket off to Tundra yesterday afternoon. Will update you all on the result. Once again thanks folks.
