    Product Reviews

First off, thanks to the xrv.org.uk team. The tenner's subscription is a complete no-brainer when you use the forum the way I do - as a searchable knowledge-base about fun bodges and cheap parts. When I'm not learning how to source a £45 sat nav, or checking that a 1993 part will fit my 1999 TA, I just have a laugh by lurking through some of the threads.

One way the forum would offer even more value is to aggregate all the disparate information on products into a specific Product Review area. If you have 5000 registered folk, say about 1100 frequently using it (who will all, if there's any justice, stump up the tenner), then that's quite a resource of people who might be willing to give their opinions about products - maybe even answer online questionnaires and give comparative scores.

It's high time I replaced my helmet. I've been asking other folk about how they rate their helmets, and looking at independent reviews on the interweb. What I would really trust is the opinions of other riders from this forum, presented in a way that made it easy to make a decision.

Does anyone else think the way I do?

Thanks MOM. Sorry I've not noticed that before now... The Product Review section is pretty good. I still think there's scope to get more quantitative feedback from a larger number of users on specific products though. I'd be interested to know, for example, what is the most popular sat nav amongst all xrv.org.uk forum members; or in descending order, which is the most popular helmet brand. You could ask for that information at registration, or as a condition of resubscribing for example, as part of an individual's profile - over time, building up a really useful database.

    Or not...

    Thanks again.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

    Re: Product Reviews

I think what boxtychamp is getting at is product reviews being led by generic product e.g helmets, clothing, tools etc, where everyones opinin could be found under one heading or sub heading (i.e. not a using search function). Sound a good idea to me.

Maybe this is already here and I've missed it.
