    Stolen Subforum

Just a thought but every now and then we have a stolen thread, either one of our members or a cross post from another forum..

What would be nice is a subforum/or even a single stickie with a mod/admin updating the first post... with a few guidlines (i.e. Bike picture, registration (or part of), location stolen from, if found or still missing...

I'm willing to put my time into doing one...

I thought you'd lost a subforum Kymmy. Very careless of you

Sounds like a good idea not sure how used it would be though we get a few of these types of posts but not loads

I had to read the whole thing about 3 times before realising what it was about too.. .

I think a "stolen" thread would get more views mixed in with the "chatter" than in a dedicated forum. though a single sticky might be better, as you suggest. don't have the rules too hard & fast though, some people may not have a photo for example...

    Re: Stolen Subforum

Hence I said subforum or thread, a thread could be locked and all stolen posts moved/collated into the thead by an admin, but for it to be visible it'd either have to be stickied or an announcment but both of them can clog the tops of the forums...

Still some thought needed but with the amount of stolen bikes around it would be good...

I think a thread stickied near the top of chatter would be a great idea

    Re: Stolen Subforum

This is a great idea. It's an idea we're looking at on the forum I'm the admin for however we're looking at a searchable database hosted on the site - but then we're looking for a London wide DB.

A sub forum would be good - everyone knows where to look and within that a seperate thread with details of what's gone - even make / model / year and location in the title with perhaps a pic and more details in the post itself - each new thread could be locked so that only the details of the stolen bike is recorded.

Having just read about Gnasher's bike being stolen then seeing this I thought those thieving scrotes get everywhere.

    Re: Stolen Subforum

    Hey Kymmy

Just an idea here, testing the water.

I think your sub-forum idea is a good one, but it would rely on people actually being alerted to read it, as I wonder how many people would visit it regularly.
SO, how about an alert appearing where the occasional ads used to appear in the forum, highlighting what (latest) bike had been stolen, from where, and perhaps a pic and some details??

The ad (or even a pop-up) could relate to the most recent bike, and direct people to your sub-forum for more details?

    Just an idea

    Bob
