Chat box beeper?

Saw earlier this morning that Alp had joked about having a beeper on the chatbox window, so you hear when someone replies.
Being a 'techno numpty', as previously mentioned, is that possible? (if you have the sound turned up on your computer, obviously. Seem to remember that MSN messenger does so on it's chat windows, with bells/whistles and flashing boxes etc.)
It's a little frustrating when you are meandering through the site and someone is also trying to chat and you miss them.
Just wondering?

Remember it's not a chatroom but a shout/chatbox so not really made for realtime chat..

But there is no beep function for new messages...
