Didn't know about the advanced search on location. That does sound a better idea than mine. Thanks Kymmy.

At some point were going to need to upgrade to the newer version of vB, you can see it at the camping forum if you want to see what it's like.
The good news is that version has a members map available.
It's a massive upgrade though that scares the living daylights out of me, plenty of testing needed.
Not sure when I'll be doing it perhaps after the national??

Maybe a variation on the member map could be just plonk down your bike, rather than yourself (except those that have a massive garage fullof course)
I'd be interested to see how many XL's and TA's are bimbling around mid and East Devon.
Not sure if it would be any easier for Dave and the team to sort out![]()
The Guzzi club do a similar thing, but I think it's only paper form.
People can choose from:
Mentioning where they are
Hospitality
Garage facility
Etc.
So if you're that way inclined, you could offer someone an overnight, tools etc.
If they breakdown, local knowledge etc.

i have no problem being on a site map, as long as there are no details that can lead to any mischief. "davsato, in fareham" is pretty vague but detailed enough for a fellow member to go in the member lists and send me a private message. then i have full control of any alcoholic, homo, northerner, geordie, welsh, southampton inbreed or portsmouth skank who wants to meet me.
actually, i withdraw the homo bit, they wash and know how to party. and if its a party we couldnt keep the alkies away.
omo? see, i told you they kept themselves clean.
skate is a sailor term, scummer is about football, both of which i have no interest in whatsoever. i use my own terms based on experience of the local girls. southampton girls have six fingers and call their elder brothers 'daddy', and you can smell pompy girls coming from the stains in their knickers, those that dont drip dry
titchfield is part of fareham, you need money to live there, its posh, except for the chav estates, which is about 90% of the village.
wish my house was on wheels, i could move it.
My two'penneth favours a map: I like visual representations, and I have a map of Ireland in my garage with key campsites and run destinations marked with pins. Very low tech, I know, but it gives me a great sense of satisfaction seeing that even spread of pins across all 32 counties.
I managed 24/32 counties one year, but was unable to gerrymander (look it up) my routes to cover the rest in the time available, so I mopped up the last 6 the following year...all on my Royal Enfield Bullet, well before before my 'Alp arrived. In the 2 months since I got the 'Alp I've only had one decent run of 450 miles, spanning 5 counties, so I still have some way to go...maybe I should get some different coloured pins?
Anyway, back to the forum - I for one would be very keen to see the spread of membership, even it it was anonymous (to protect the innocent) and based on the nearest town or postcode centroid or whatever. Is there any way we could plagiarise google maps? I've seen it used on other sites to show various random points of interest.
Joe
